Less than 3 months after arriving in Canada from the US with my young family, I went to my first local business meeting and was told to go down to the office. My rear-facing office was completely destroyed (apart from one fire-sealed cabinet with my cheque books)—including 2 monitors, furniture, personal paperwork—but I had my laptop and, more importantly, my second backup drive (the first was in the fire) in my bag so was able to keep working from the local coffee shop for a week who gave me a table to work from for free. The building suffered an electrical fault. Other businesses in there also suffered smoke damage but the Town relocated us all and charged us no rent for 6 months, which I was so grateful for. Lately, I have been having conversations with busi Lately, I have been having conversations with business owners about the difference between just having a Facebook page or just having a business webpage. The main difference is you do not own any of the meta pages. There is always the possibility of violating Meta community standards and losing access to your account. Also, you are at the mercy of Meta servers. If the Meta servers go down and you do not have either an email list that you own or a business webpage, you do not have a way of contacting your clients.
