Most business owners wear a lot of hats—but that Most business owners wear a lot of hats—but that doesn’t mean you should handle everything. Website maintenance is often underestimated, but it’s time-consuming and critical. Outsourcing frees up your time and ensures your site is handled with expert care. In part 3 of our 5-part series, we outline Leave Maintenance to Professionals: Why It’s Worth It:

1. What Does Website Maintenance Actually Involve?
2. Doing It Yourself?
3. Benefits of Hiring Professionals
4. What to Look for in a WordPress Maintenance Provider
5. Real-World Example or Analogy
6. Cost vs. Value

Outsourcing your website care isn’t an expense—it’s an investment in stability, security, and peace of mind. You don’t have to do it all yourself—and your business will thank you for it.

Most people only fix things when they break—but that’s risky when it comes to websites. In part 2 of our 5-part series, we outline Proactive Monitoring and Issue Prevention for WordPress websites.

1. Introduction: Why Reacting Isn’t Enough
2. What Is Proactive Monitoring?
3. The Benefits of Proactive Monitoring
4. Common Tools Used for Monitoring
5. Proactive Maintenance Tasks
6. Real-World Scenario
7. DIY vs. Professional Monitoring

Ever wonder why we use cogs in our logo, on our we Ever wonder why we use cogs in our logo, on our website, and in our marketing material? You didn't?! Well, read on, friends...

Well, we believe that every cog represents a marketing channel in your business. They rely on each other to move, creating momentum, all working together. But when one stops, that cog affects the others.

For example, if you just launched a new website for a Victoria retirement community (ahem, just suggesting an example), that same message and imagery should appear on your website, in Facebook, on Instagram, your Google Business Profile, and LinkedIn. If someone is in Facebook and they don't see it, they don't know!

Keep your cogs moving together. Don't ignore one then it stops the whole machine!

It’s not often that you meet your hero in the fl It’s not often that you meet your hero in the flesh. I met Donald Byrd in 1997 in Chicago because I saw an opening and snuck backstage. He was there with his group. Eating melon. And I introduced myself. He said, “You from England? I played in the Albert Hall, that was one big motherf***er.” He then signed this and I left, on cloud nine. #donaldbyrd #metmyhero

So what do you do when your website goes down? And So what do you do when your website goes down? And believe me, it WILL go down at some point as the internet is not perfect, much like us (who designed and built it).

1. Don’t panic!

2. Check that your domain name is paid up and there are no unpaid invoices.

3. Check that your web hosting account is up-to-date and there are no unpaid invoices.

4. Check another website to make sure it’s not your internet connection that is down. Maybe check on your mobile device.

CAN YOU CONTACT US?

5. Absolutely, you may reach out to us for help. If you are on one of our monthly care plans, we will do this as part of that plan, but if it turns out to be something external from the website which has caused it, that may incur billable time for us to investigate and resolve your issue.

As a footnote, make sure you can log into your accounts in case we need those credentials.

Don’t panic…

We were more than happy to donate $1,500 to Eliina We were more than happy to donate $1,500 to Eliina and her amazing local operation, the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association's Food Bank. I also volunteered here for several years.

Since January 2025, they have had roughly 1,500 clients per month, 1/3 of which are children in our community. From January to June 2025, this totals about 8,700 clients. A tremendous feat for their team as they feed their guests in about 6 hours a week!

If you are a Ladysmith-based business who finds that they have a spare $500, $1,000 or any amount, think about donating rather than letting it sit dormant in a bank account. There is NOTHING more satisfying than helping to feed your local community with healthy food.

I was happy to sponsor the school 7s rugby team for two years so was surprised and humbled to be presented with a signed shirt with my surname and company logo on it at the school awards ceremony. I managed to get it on somehow but took some effort to get it off plus it was a medium!

I toured England and Scotland with @qmsduncan and my two daughters as a chaperone back in 2024 so to see many of those girls' names on there is pretty special. I will watch for them in whatever they do from here so good luck to those who graduated.

From the first click to the final contact form, every page should work for you.

If your website feels more like a placeholder than a performer, it might be time for a refresh. Send us a message, and we’ll help you build a site that actually works.
